Publicerad 2024-11-06

The role

The Fluids and Aerodynamics Research Group at the University of Bristol is seeking to fill a permanent academic position specializing in environmental aerodynamics, turbulence and scalar transport. We invite applications from candidates with experimental expertise in wind engineering, urban boundary layer flows and scalar transport for air pollution applications and is committed to advancing both research and teaching.

This position presents a unique opportunity to join a world-renowned research team at the forefront of aerodynamics, turbulence, aeroacoustic, and flow control. The successful candidate will contribute to ongoing research, collaborate with leading academics on innovative projects, and play an active role in the development and delivery of teaching materials. Additional responsibilities include mentoring students and supporting undergraduate research projects.

Our cutting-edge wind tunnel facilities provide an exceptional platform for conducting groundbreaking experiments and simulations. In particular, our new 18m long national Boundary Layer wind tunnel facility, with advanced gas injection capability and state-of-the-art flow and concentration measurement techniques, provide an excellent opportunity for performing high-quality research and supporting collaborations with external academic and industry partners.

We foster a collaborative, interdisciplinary research environment designed to support professional development and career growth.

If you are passionate about pushing the boundaries of aerodynamics and eager to collaborate with leading experts in the field, we encourage you to apply.

What will you be doing?

Role holders will be responsible for research, teaching, and related administration, at both undergraduate and postgraduate taught levels. For the senior lecturer level, the role will entail leadership in developing and overseeing research and teaching activities at all levels. They will make a significant leadership and/or management contribution in the area of research and teaching. They will contribute to the delivery of high-quality research in environmental flow, air pollution, aerodynamics and scalar transport at undergraduate and postgraduate levels and undertake academic leadership roles.

The appointees at the Lecturer level (J/K) are expected to contribute actively to the group's ongoing teaching and research initiatives while working towards establishing their own independent teaching and research portfolios. Those appointed at the Senior Lecturer level (L) should demonstrate a proven track record in independent teaching and research, securing external funding, developing long-term strategic plans, and contributing to the management and leadership activities within the group.

You should apply if

· A strong research background in environmental aerodynamics, turbulence and fluid mechanics.

· A proven ability to perform independent research and collaborate effectively with others.

· A clear and innovative vision for future research that complements and enhances current activities within the fluids and aerodynamics research group.

· A passion for teaching and the ability to develop and deliver engaging, high-quality education in aerodynamics.

A collaborative approach to both research and teaching. If you have a desire to make a significant impact through both your research and teaching, we encourage you to apply.
