Lecturer/ Senior Lecturer in Geotechnical Engineering
We are delighted to be recruiting a new colleague at Lecturer / Senior Lecturer level in Geotechnical Engineering in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering within the Faculty of Engineering. The successful candidate will have research interests which complement the research of current academic staff in our , shown by their research portfolio.
You will plan, resource, and direct an original and impacting research programme in Geotechnical Engineering, conducting research projects on your own and developing collaborative projects with other members of the Department and College and with external collaborators. We are particularly interested in candidates whose research can (i) address the challenges of delivering low carbon energy, (ii) mitigate the risks posed by climate change, (iii) contribute to develop sustainable resilient infrastructure, or (iv) address the UN sustainable development goals.
You will also contribute to undergraduate and taught postgraduate teaching in soil mechanics / geotechnical engineering, considering our cluster of MSc Courses in Geotechnical Engineering in particular.
You will have a PhD (or equivalent) in Geotechnical Engineering or a related field and a developing (at Lecturer level) or established (at Senior Lecturer level) national reputation and expertise in geotechnical engineering.
You will also provide evidence that your research can contribute to (i) address the challenges of delivering low carbon energy, (ii) mitigate the risks posed by climate change, (iii) contribute to develop sustainable resilient infrastructure, or (iv) address the UN sustainable development goals.
Evidence of your ability to contribute to undergraduate and taught postgraduate teaching in soil mechanics/geotechnical engineering is essential together with a portfolio of research publications confirming national/international standing (commensurate with career stage).
