Lecturer/ Senior Lecturer in Law (Teaching & Research)
The Role
Newcastle Law School seeks to appoint a Lecturer/Senior Lecturer in Law to join our forward thinking, inclusive Russell Group Law School that seeks to embed its values in all that it does: Challenge; Social Justice; Compassion; Wellbeing; Excellence; Responsibility; and Respect.
We are looking for a passionate researcher in either Criminal Law (with a preference for research specialisms in racial and/or gender justice or challenging injustice within criminal law) or Intellectual Property law broadly defined (with a preference for those able to teach trademark and copyright in the context of digital technologies). Your research should engage with socially relevant and important questions that address current and future problems. A willingness to collaborate across legal fields and disciplines is also desirable.
Newcastle Law School is a globally connected, locally rooted and compassionate community. We embrace diversity and advance social justice by addressing contemporary and future challenges through our research, our scholarship, our engagement with partners, and as a lasting impact of our legal education. We are based in Newcastle upon Tyne, a city with a wide variety of cultural, social and leisure offering, with outstanding schools and close proximity to beautiful nature and heritage sites. We want to appoint someone who shares our values, and who will work with us to realise them across all our areas of activity. We are particularly interested in the strengths and lived experiences of researchers from different ethnic groups and cultures to broaden the diversity of Newcastle Law School, as we strive to avoid perpetuating biases and oversights on legal research and legal education.
If you see yourself in the above description, then please get in touch and consider applying. If you would like a confidential discussion about this role please contact Samantha Ryan, Head of Newcastle Law School at
Interviews are expected to be held week commencing June 3rd.
The University has developed an document which summarises the range of activities that academic colleagues may be expected to perform.
