Lecturer/Senior Lecturer in Medicines Use

School of Applied Sciences

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a clinical pharmacist to contribute to the teaching and research portfolio within our school.

Our team delivers clinical teaching to undergraduate students on our patient-centred, case-based MPharm degree. We also run several post-graduate courses which include the Overseas Pharmacists' Assessment Programme (OSPAP). Interprofessional teaching is a core element of our provision, which we lead across the health schools, including the Brighton and Sussex Medical School. We enjoy strong research and teaching links with the pharmacy teams at University Hospitals Sussex NHS Foundation Trust as well as other local employers.

You will join a vibrant, multi-disciplinary team, committed to providing high-quality education to our students. This includes inspiring the next generation of pharmacy graduates by adopting innovative approaches to clinical teaching, informed by our research, in order to breed inquisitive thinkers capable of effective decision-making. In order to be successful in this post you should have:

  • A relevant degree in Pharmacy (or non-UK equivalent)
  • Registered with or registerable with The General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC) or The Pharmaceutical Society of Northern Ireland (PSNI)
  • Engagement with teaching and assessment, including work-based education and clinical examination
  • Good track record of working effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Commitment to meeting a range of organisational and regulatory requirements
  • Competent IT skills and effective use of IT for teaching and learning
  • Although holding a research qualification is not a requirement, you will be expected to engage with clinical research, audit or quality improvement initiatives, working in collaboration with one of our Centres for Research and Enterprise, or a Research and Enterprise Group and/or colleagues within the local NHS.

The post is a full-time position (37.0 hours per week); however, we would consider job share applications to support portfolio working, especially clinicians who wish to continue to provide a clinical commitment in their area of practice.

The School is proud to hold a Silver Athena SWAN award.
