About the role

We are looking to make 1 appointment to the post of Lecturer (Teaching) in Semiconductor Physics and Nanotechnology to start from October / November . 

The primary purpose of the successful candidate will be responsibility for teaching on various modules in the general field of Semiconductor Physics and Nanotechnology in EEE. The successful candidate will perform the normal administrative duties expected of a member of academic staff as required by the Head of Department. Specifically, the candidate will be a lecturer for the 2nd year undergraduate “Physics for Electronics and Nanotechnology 2”. The candidate will also teach some extra lectures on undergraduate modules covering topics related to Nanotechnology, support some Maths workshops, as well as demonstrate for Masters level Nanotechnology practicals. The candidate will also supervise students at the undergraduate and postgraduate level for BEng/MEng/MSc projects.

The post is available for 9 months in the first instance. Further funding to support the post may be available. We will also consider applications from those who wish to work on a part time basis, in which case the length of appointment may exceed 9 months. The available salary is Grade (£52, per annum inclusive of London Allowance).

About you

For this appointment we are seeking candidates with extensive knowledge on the Semiconductor Physics and Nanotechnology, particularly with relevance to applications in Electronic Engineering (both theoretical and practical) along with a comprehensive understanding of research directions in this sector. Applicants should have a PhD or equivalent qualification in electronic engineering or a closely related discipline.

Applicants should have experience in technical writing and a proven ability to teach at undergraduate and/or postgraduate level. The desired candidate will possess the ability to communicate clearly, both orally and in writing, with students, academics and professional services staff at all levels.

Experience of supervising project students is desirable, as well as experience using virtual learning environments such as Moodle or Blackboard.
