The University of Worcester seeks to appoint an experienced, enthusiastic, and highly motivated Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) registered Allied Health worker to join the Department of Community, Social Justice and Health. You will join a friendly and supportive team of academics and Clinical Skills Educators all of whom are registered Allied Health workers. The team deliver a Paramedic Science BSc (Hons) course and the newly approved Paramedic Science Degree Apprenticeship (BSc Paramedic Science) course with a partner organisation.

Main duties of the job

You will take on the role as a Lecturer (Teaching) Practice Facilitator, the role will include module lead and teaching on the BSc Paramedic Science practice modules. The role will also involve coordinating the practice element and the continuing development of the placements for the Paramedic Science degree programme. You will provide a range of support to students, placements and course team to ensure high quality practice education learning experiences within the programme. This position requires ongoing liaison with Paramedic Science students, academic staff, Practice Educators and placement providers at all levels. The post holder will be strategic in developing new placement opportunities, to support a growing number of students in the programme and provide education and training for practice educators. You will liaise with employers to secure placements, support students and provide preparation, tutorials and documentation for their practice learning experiences. In addition, you will ensure that students and Practice Educators complete the paperwork to meet requirements, and that it is stored securely.

The School of Health and Wellbeing offers courses ranging from foundation degrees in various specialties in health and social care, to BSc (Hons) Occupational Therapy, Physiotherapy, Radiography, Dietetics and Social Work BA, MA and the newly approved Apprenticeship and Masters level study in a number of disciplines related to Health and Social Care. Job description

Job responsibilities

1. To contribute to high quality teaching at undergraduate level and postgraduate, to include designing and developing innovative learning materials and assessments, including module leadership in Paramedic Science for practice-based modules and CPD modules to assess, mark and moderate module assessments.

2. To participate in curriculum development work including planning, development and evaluation of courses.

3. To contribute to the assessment process for students including the setting, supervision, marking and moderation of student work, individually or collectively as part of a module team in accordance with quality assurance procedures.

4. To provide preparation, support and training to support students and practice educators and ensure quality learning in practice.

5. To liaise with registered professionals and external organisations to source and develop new placement opportunities for Paramedic Science students.

6. To ensure that all placement opportunities meet the requirements of the Universitys workbased learning policy.

7. Proactively engage with key stakeholders including practice facilitators, academic staff, PLaST Team (Placement Support Team), the professional regulatory body and clinical practice sectors to provide an outstanding student experience.

8. Assess the quality of practice learning environments and propose interventions for improvement, including maintaining records, writing evaluation reports and monitoring quality.

9. Engage in tripartite arrangements with students and practice educators to facilitate effective partnership working and student support

  • Experience of and enthusiasm for supporting students in practice education and of working across a range of practice areas.

    Essential

  • Ability and commitment to contributing to the development of high-quality education programme and research informed activity that supports practice learning.
  • Ability to communicate confidently and clearly with a wide range of people including students, tutors, managers, representatives of external organisations and the public both orally and in writing.
  • Effective IT skills, including the use of Microsoft Office Software including Excel, PowerPoint, email, diary management, document creation, including tables and secure storage, and web-based learning platforms (Blackboard).
  • Ability to provide training and tutorials to prepare students and practice educators for practice learning.
  • Effective team working and interpersonal skills.
  • Effective organisation skills and ability to liaise with students and practice educators in a timely manner.

  • A degree or equivalent qualification in a relevant subject area, registration with a professional body (HCPC, NMC, GPHC).
  • Desirable

  • A Masters qualification.
