Publicerad 2024-04-19

The University of Worcester seeks to appoint an experienced, enthusiastic, and highly motivated Social Work England (SWE) registered Social Worker to join the Department of Social Work and Paramedic Science. You will join a friendly and supportive team of academics, all of whom are registered Social Workers. The team delivers across a suite of Social Work courses, including the BA (Hons) in Social Work, MA in Social Work, and the newly approved Social Work (Integrated Degree) Apprenticeship course, as well as a range of CPD modules for post-qualified Social Workers.

You will take on the role of Lecturer (Teaching) Practice Facilitator. The role will include module leadership and teaching on the BA, MA, and Apprenticeship practice modules. Additionally, it will involve coordinating the practice element and the ongoing development of placements for the BA and MA Social Work degree programs, as well as supporting the Social Work CPD courses offered within the Department. You will provide a range of support to students, placements, and the course team to ensure high-quality practice education learning experiences within the program. This position requires ongoing liaison with Social Work students, academic staff, Practice Educators, and placement providers at all levels in a wide range of local authority social work providers, including both adult and children's health services and social care agencies in the private, voluntary, and independent sectors. The post holder will be strategic in developing new placement opportunities to support a growing number of students in the program and provide education and training for practice educators. You will liaise with employers to secure placements, support students, and provide preparation, tutorials, and documentation for their practice learning experiences. Additionally, you will ensure that students and Practice Educators complete the paperwork to meet requirements and that it is stored securely.

The role will require excellent communication and creative problem-solving skills. In collaboration with the University of Worcester Work Placement Support Team, the post holder will ensure necessary information is provided to support practice placements for students and practice educators, including web-based information. You will also assist in assessing students’ assignments, conduct placement visits, and engage in scholarly activity as appropriate.

You will participate in admissions and recruitment events where we work collaboratively with our colleagues in IMPACT, the university service-user group, who support teaching, recruitment, and curriculum development. You should also expect to play an active role within the School, which may include involvement in the delivery of CPD activity across a range of programs. All staff are expected to engage in research and scholarly activity to enhance their own professional and academic development.
