Modelling and Simulation Researcher
Job Description
What will you be doing?
As a Modelling and Simulation researcher, you will join Derby team to support our activities within the Aerospace sector.
Your main responsibilities will be:
- Create detailed reports on modelling processes, findings, and recommendations to inform engineering decisions.
- Offer valuable insights from simulations to optimize engine designs for improved heat and noise management.
- Contribute to the broader engineering community by publishing research findings and sharing expertise.
- Collaborate with diverse teams to develop, verify, validate, maintain, and optimize complex software systems.
- Ensure that all research activities comply with relevant laws and regulations, including health, safety, and ethical guidelines.

Qualifications
Experience, skills and qualifications required:
- Minimum of a Master's degree with 3 years of relevant experience, or a Bachelor's degree with 5 years of relevant experience.
- PhD in Aerospace, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field is preferred.
- Strong knowledge of thermodynamics and engine performance modelling.
- Proficiency in advanced engine performance simulation software and tools.
- Expertise in backend languages such as Python, C++, and MATLAB.
- Proven experience with MATLAB/Simulink modelling and simulation.
- Ability to conduct analysis for internal combustion engines and translate complex data into actionable insights.
- Proven track record in conducting high-quality research.
- Strong problem-solving skills and critical thinking.
- Ability to propose different solution alternatives to a problem.
- A drive to learn and master new programming languages, multi-disciplinary methods, technologies, and techniques.
