Job summary

There is now an exciting opportunity to join the Pathology Clinical Trials Team. This full time, band 4 post will be a key member of the Pathology Research and Development (R&D) team supporting the clinical research teams across the TVRA.

North Tees and South Tees Hospitals NHS Foundation Trusts are now part of the Tees Valley Research Alliance (TVRA).

This strategic and operational alliance combines the research and development departments from both acute trusts into one overarching department, which operates across both trusts.

The alliance creates an efficient research set up and delivery service, with the aim of sharing information on studies.

The Clinical Trials Pathology Team is a key support service within the TVRA.

The post holder will also be expected to develop research knowledge to provide on-going support to all practitioners. The post holder will also develop skills such as consenting of patients to appropriately delegated research studies that the Pathology R&D team lead on. Research Assistant Practitioners are required to provide routine information to patients along with non-routine information about studies and effectively communicate where research lies within the individual patients' clinical care pathway. The post holder's role will also include data collection including data input into electronic databases and other administrative duties. Any research undertaken must be conducted to ICH Good Clinical Practice (GCP) standards. The post holder will identify barriers to the recruitment of patients into trials and work effectively with other staff groups to overcome any barriers.
