Job Role: Policy Researcher (Technical Officer)

Location: Hybrid / Stoneleigh Park, Nr Leamington Spa

Salary: £45,000 per annum

Are you an experienced policy researcher with a passion for supporting the landscaping sector? Our client is looking for a dedicated Technical Officer to play a vital role in developing and implementing technical support plans for their members. This is an exciting opportunity to make a significant impact by providing high-quality research and advocacy in the world of landscaping.


Key Responsibilities:


Support the Chief Executive in developing an annual technical support plan and deliver on policy advocacy and implementation.

Conduct high-quality research on industry matters and legislation, providing thorough support and guidance to members.

Develop and facilitate workshops and seminars on various technical, standards, and policy topics.

Build a comprehensive understanding of members’ operations across the UK to provide tailored assistance.

Collaborate with stakeholders to enhance training and technical initiatives within the landscaping industry.

Contribute to the development of business plans for policy-related research and advocacy that align with the strategic objectives of the organization.


Strategy and Planning:


Create clear and achievable proposals for policy-related research initiatives.

Design and implement project timelines to ensure all delegated projects are completed within set deadlines.

Stay informed about landscaping policy issues and emerging trends to tailor support for members.


Policy & Research:


Lead and manage policy projects aligned with the annual business plan and ensure robust research methodologies are employed.

Communicate effectively with key stakeholders, government officials, and the media to promote our client's objectives.

Draft briefings, reports, and presentations, and represent our client at meetings and conferences.


Project Management:


Oversee research projects to ensure they are delivered on time, within budget, and to a high standard.

Prioritize tasks effectively to maximize the quality and impact of deliverables.


Person Specification:


Qualifications:


A degree or relevant professional qualification, or equivalent substantial work experience is desirable.


Experience:


Demonstrable experience in a similar policy-focused role is essential.

Proven history of managing technical research projects on time and within budget is crucial.


Skills & Abilities:


Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage with stakeholders at all levels.

Strong analytical skills and the ability to develop impactful research proposals.


Personal Qualities:


Confident networker with the ability to build relationships with key stakeholders.

A proactive approach with effective management of workload.
