POSTDOCTORAL POSITION IN SYSTEMS NEUROSCIENCE

Publicerad 2024-10-23

The Department of Biomedicine is a joint effort between the University of Basel and the University Hospitals Basel. It unites basic and clinical scientists to advance our understanding of health and disease and to develop pioneering therapies benefiting the lives of patients in areas of unmet need. With more than 70 research groups and 800 employees, the Department of Biomedicine is the largest department at the University. We are located in the heart of Basel at 6 different locations. Be part of our future!

Your position

The project has the broad goal of better understanding the neuronal circuits for sensory processing, perception, and learning. It includes both experiments and data analysis. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to learn and apply several state-of-the-art systems neuroscience techniques such as in vivo extracellular recordings, functional 2P imaging, behavioral assays, optogenetics, in vivo patch-clamp recordings, viral neural tracing, or immunohistochemistry. The research questions will be chosen from a range of topics in auditory systems neuroscience.

Your profile

You are our new team member if you:
    •    have a background in neuroscience, physics, computer science, mathematics, biology, or engineering
    •    have a spirit of intellectual adventure as well as drive and eagerness
    •    can be creative and focused on a project at the same time
    •    have experience and interest in programming data analysis code
    •    run experiments methodically and are adept at troubleshooting and problem solving
    •    ambition to pursue a career in science
    •    enjoy working in a team and like to share ideas with colleagues
    •    are fluent in english.

We offer you

We offer attractive employment conditions in an intellectually stimulating environment and a scientifically and culturally rich city.
Our lab aims to understand the role of neural circuits in making sense of sounds. We use a systems neuroscience approach to explore the functions of neuronal circuits in the mouse central auditory system. For more information about our lab, please check www.brainsoundlab.com.
