Postdoctoral Research Assistant
The Opportunity:
An exciting postdoc position is available to understand the role of autophagy and lysosomal degradation in aging and aging-related diseases.
A postdoctoral research fellow position is available at the laboratory of Noor Gammoh, University of Edinburgh. The lab is interested in investigating key events during autophagy initiation, progression, and lysosomal degradation as well as the relevance of autophagy in disease. A current project is available in the lab to uncover molecular events underlying lysosomal degradation of autophagic cargo using a combination of cell biology and biochemical techniques.
The lab is seeking to appoint a highly motivated, skilled and dedicated postdoctoral research fellow. The candidate must have completed a PhD degree (or anticipate to obtain one in the near future) and ideally has a good publication record. Experience in basic molecular techniques and excellent technical skills are essential. The candidate should demonstrate an ability to design, execute and interpret experiments, creative thinking, good presentation skills, problem solving, self-motivation and critical analyses.
The lab is located at the Cancer Research UK Scotland Centre which is part of a wider Institute of Genetics and Cancer and supports state-of-the art technologies, collaborative research environment and access to multiple advanced services. Particularly important within the Centre is an ethos of mentoring and nurturing scientists in order to establish the next generation of scientific leaders.
This post is full-time (35 hours per week) and fixed term - funding is available for 3 years pending review after 6 months.
