Postdoctoral Research Associate in Bioelectrochemistry and Biocatalysis

Publicerad 2024-09-04

Mansfield Rd, Oxford OX1 3TA About the role Applications are invited for a Postdoctoral Research Associate in in Bioelectrochemistry and Biocatalysis to work under the supervision of Professor Kylie Vincent for a period of up to 36 months. The project is part of a wider collaborative effort, led by TU Delft, to isolate and characterise tungsten-containing enzymes and develop them for biotechnology for chemical manufacturing. The Oxford part of this project will involve electrochemical characterisation of W-enzymes, and establishing feasibility of hydrogen-driven reactions such as carboxylic acid reductions using these enzymes by coupling to hydrogenase. The project may also involve some structural biology. There will be opportunities for visits to the collaborating institutions. Part time working or some degree of flexible working may be possible. Find out more about the Prof Vincent’s research and the Vincent research group at: About you Applicants must hold a PhD in Chemistry or a relevant subject area, ( or be close to completion ) prior to taking up the appointment. The research requires experience in catalysis, and in electrochemical approaches such as cyclic voltammetry and electrolysis, as well as experience in use of analytical methods including UV-visible and IR spectroscopy and NMR spectroscopy, and the use of in-situ or in-line analytical methods for reaction monitoring. You will be expected to manage your own academic research and administrative activities. This involves small scale project management, to co-ordinate multiple aspects of work to meet deadlines. The post will be based in the Department of Chemistry, Inorganic Chemistry Laboratory, and is available to start as soon as possible.
