Postdoctoral Researcher in Cell Assay Development and chemico-genomic Screening

Publicerad 2024-09-11

We are looking for a

Postdoctoral Researcher with demonstrable experience in molecular and cell biology techniques to join the Oppermann group based at the Botnar Research Centre, within the Nuffield Department of Orthopaedics, Rheumatology and Musculoskeletal Sciences (NDORMS) in Oxford. You will be part of an interdisciplinary team of scientists and clinician researchers. The UK Research and Innovation Musculoskeletal Functional Genomics Initiative Cluster (MSK Cluster) is one of four Functional Genomics clusters in the UK that have been funded by UKRI to accelerate the translation of genetic results into tangible benefits for patients. As member of the Oppermann group at the Botnar Institute, your specific role will be in the development and adaptation of cell-based assays, execution of chemical and genetic screening and identification of mode of action of identified hits that could constitute novel targets in MSK diseases. You will contribute to co-ordinating and integrating the experimental work and to the analysis of genetic, transcriptomic, proteomic, and imaging data, with the overarching aim to provide new evidence of pathogenicity of proteins and pathways across MSK diseases and with a view to design innovative therapeutic intervention points. You will have a Doctoral (PhD) degree or equivalent or be near completion in human and/or chemical or molecular biology, or a related relevant scientific subject. You will also be able to demonstrable experience, ability, and practical success in molecular and cell biology techniques such as cell culture, molecular cloning, immune-precipitation techniques, transcriptomics, next generation sequencing and proteomics techniques and cell-based assay development. Documented experience in genetics, transcriptomics, proteomics, and imaging data analysis is also essential. Previous research experience in the genetics of human disease, and previous experience working with large datasets with demonstrable expertise in the use of statistical packages, including R and/or Python is desirable. This is a full-time fixed term appointment for 36 months.
