About the role

This is a full-time permanent role.

Professor/Associate Professor of Clinical Pharmacy/Clinical Pharmacology is a senior member of the Research Department of Practice and Policy.

This Professor/Associate Professor position will further develop our research portfolio within the healthcare arena including clinical pharmacy and clinical pharmacology, medication safety, pharmacoepidemiology, medicines optimisation, clinical trials in primary and/or secondary care.

The position also offers collaborative and partnering opportunities with the Research Department of Pharmacology that is developing novel therapies for first in human clinical trials and expertise of in silico pharmacokinetic and pharmacodynamic modelling. The successful candidate will in collaboration with others, lead the delivery of the professional and clinical elements of the undergraduate and postgraduate programs which are designed for pharmacists in the UK and elsewhere.

The successful candidate is expected, 

  • Provide strategic leadership and direction for the research department
  • Contribute to Divisional, Faculty and UCL working groups or committees as required
  • Develop and maintain an internationally competitive research group, complementing and expanding current research activities
  • Apply for research grants and promote research portfolio
  • Recruit, train, supervise and support post-doctoral researchers, research fellows and PhD students
  • Publish highly cited publications in prestigious journals and disseminate research findings using other appropriate media
  • Deliver and develop modules for undergraduate and postgraduate courses in areas allocated and reviewed from time to time
  • Encourage the development of innovative approaches to curriculum development and ensure that teaching design and delivery comply with the quality and educational standards and regulations of the Division, Faculty and UCL
  • Set, mark and assess work and examinations and provide high quality and timely feedback to students
  • Engage in a range of knowledge transfer and/or public engagement activities
  • Evidence of substantial engagement with national or international partners in the public dissemination of information to the benefit of the community, or the population at large or to the commercial sector
  • Successful and effective contribution to the achievement of UCL’s strategic goals
  • Exceptional individual leadership beyond the core areas of research and teaching, including widening participation, implementing the International Strategy and representing UCL on key matters of importance overseas
  • About you

    The successful candidate will lead on the research and teaching in clinical practice/clinical pharmacology.

    You will be responsible for delivering high quality research and designated courses/modules, lectures and workshops.
