Research Assistant (Akrami Lab)

About the role

We are looking for a Research Assistant to run experiments investigating the neural mechanisms of spatial working memory. You will work closely within a team responsible for training and monitoring rats in a streamlined, highly-automated facility for high-throughput rodent training. You will perform stereotaxic surgeries, and assist in recording neural activity with high-density electrophysiology, and perturbing activity with optogenetics or pharmacological manipulations This position is ideal for candidates seeking additional research experience before applying to graduate degree programs in Neuroscience or related fields. About you

You will be detail-oriented, conscientious, and self-motivated. You must be able to demonstrate (or learn) precision and care in tasks involving fine manual skills, and be able to communicate science and present complex information in a clear manner. A bachelor's degree in neuroscience, molecular biology or a related field is essential along with independent research experience and experience with rodent behavioural assays.
