Job Details

The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work with a supportive and highly motivated Educational Psychology Service (EPS). Our EPS is organised across three geographical teams in Fife, with some flexibility regarding where the post will be based, and the expectation that the postholder will, at times, work with each of the teams according to priority tasks.

FCEPS has a tradition of, and ongoing focus on, developing high-quality evidence-informed interventions and effective implementation approaches through the delivery of high-quality applied psychology.

Key tasks for the Research Assistant will be:

  • to support Service Improvement Priorities, Self-Evaluation Tasks, network group action plans and individual EPs through contributing to the design, implementation and evaluation of varying research projects and development tasks
  • analysing and reporting on data linked to different research projects
  • carrying out and providing summaries of up-to-date research reviews, and
  • supporting other relevant tasks at the discretion of the EPS management team.
  • Effective line management and regular support will be provided by a service which values and promotes both autonomy and collective responsibility.

    The Person

    The successful candidate will:

  • Be educated to SCQF level 10, which includes an Honours Degree or equivalent in Psychology of at least 2:1
  • Have experience in research and evaluation
  • Have IT skills and familiarity with statistical analysis software
  • Have experience of working with young people in an educational setting
  • Have well-developed interpersonal, organisational, time-management, team working and data handling and interpretation skills
  • Have the ability to demonstrate initiative
  • Respond positively in an environment of change.

    Before confirming to your appointment, you will be required to obtain Protection of Vulnerable Groups (PVG) scheme membership through Disclosure Scotland and become a member of the relevant PVG scheme.

    We are currently shaping our future workstyles however, in light of current advice, we are introducing blended home/office working that will include office access days each week with homeworking for the remainder of your working time.
