We are seeking
an enthusiastic and highly motivated Research Assistant to join the Tumour Evolution and Cell Identity Laboratory as part of the GO-PRECISE Alliance between the University of Oxford and GlaxoSmithKline (GSK). This pioneering project focuses on the development of a preventative vaccine against cancer. The role presents a unique opportunity to contribute to cutting-edge cancer research within a collaborative and translational research environment. The successful candidate will be responsible for the collection, processing, and maintenance of human tumour samples, growing these as organoids (3D tumour cultures in vitro). This work will support crucial vaccine development efforts through immuno-profiling and molecular characterisation of cancerous tissues. You will be based primarily in the Old Road Campus Research Building, with responsibilities also requiring retrieval of human tissue samples from the endoscopy department at the John Radcliffe Hospital and from operating theatres at the Churchill Hospital. As a key member of the Buczacki Laboratory and the GO-PRECISE Oxford team, you will work closely with clinicians, scientists, and industry collaborators to advance this ambitious research programme. About you The ideal candidate will be an enthusiastic and organised individual with a strong background in cancer biology, molecular biology, or a related biomedical science field. You should be comfortable handling human tissue samples and working in a collaborative research environment. You will hold a degree in biomedical sciences, molecular biology, cancer biology or a related discipline. You will also be experienced in molecular and cellular biology techniques, such as immunohistochemistry, qPCR, or flow cytometry and show strong organisational, record keeping skills. You will also be willing to handle and process human tissue samples in compliance with ethical and regulatory guidelines. Additional Information This full-time post is available immediately and is fixed term until 31st December 2027 in the first instance.
