We are seeking

to appoint an enthusiastic and self-motivated Research Assistant to join the laboratory of Associate Professor Natalia Gromak at the Sir William Dunn School of Pathology, University of Oxford. The post-holder will be responsible for managing a research project, contributing conceptually to the overall research programme as well as overseeing the daily housekeeping of the laboratory. The research project will involve a wide range of molecular biology and biochemical techniques, including RNA work, protein purification, mammalian cell culture, next generation sequencing genome-wide analyses (ChIP) and mass spectrometry. Applicants should hold, or be close to completion of, a BSc in biochemistry, molecular/cell biology or genetics and have a good understanding of the principals of gene expression in higher eukaryotes. Previous laboratory experience, good organizational and communication skills and the ability to work as part of a team are essential. Expertise in molecular mechanisms of transcription, RNA processing, DNA damage or R-loop biology would be an advantage for this job. Candidates with experience in genomic analyses, proteomic approaches, imaging analysis, iPS differentiation and bioinformatics would be especially welcome. Training will be available in all aspects of the work, especially in the less standard protocols, although it is expected that applicants will be familiar with some of the necessary techniques.
