The University of Manchester wishes to appoint a Research Assistant to join the Healthy Ageing Research Theme within the NIHR Applied Research Collaboration for Greater Manchester (NIHR ARC GM). The post holder will initially assist on two mixed methods projects within our programme of work (i) case finding for falls prevention and (ii) understanding the barriers to localised oestrogen treatment in care homes.

The NIHR ARC GM is a collaboration between the University of Manchester and the health and care system of Greater Manchester. Our work is directly informed by the needs of both this system and the local population. Our over-arching goal is to improve the health of the GM population and the quality and sustainability of the health and social care they receive. We will achieve this by co-producing excellent research in areas prioritised by the system and by enhancing its impact through supported implementation into policy and practice.

The successful applicant will work with Professor Chris Todd (NIHR ARC GM Healthy Ageing Theme Lead and Director of the NIHR Older People and Frailty Policy Research Unit), the ARC GM Healthy Ageing research team and The University of Manchester Healthy Ageing Research Group (HARG). This post will be based within the School of Health Sciences in the Faculty of Biology Medicine and Health Sciences.

The post will include conducting literature searches, applying for research governance approvals, undertaking mixed-methods research including qualitative and/or quantitative data collection and analysis, and contributing to writing up and disseminating study findings.

Applicants will possess a degree in a related field of study and have experience of conducting qualitative and/or quantitative reserarch. Excellent organisational skills are essential with the ability and initiative to manage and prioritise different and conflicting workloads, whilst meeting deadlines without close supervision. The successful applicant will also possess the ability to work collaboratively across different teams.

  • Fantastic market leading Pension scheme
  • Excellent employee health and wellbeing services including an Employee Assistance Programme
