Research Assistant - Nigeria in the Antimicrobial Eras Project (MB)

Candidates applying for this role should be willing and able to make multiple research visits to Nigeria for fieldwork during the duration of the contract. All travel, accommodation, subsistence and visa expenses will be provided.

We are recruiting a motivated Research Assistant to join a Wellcome Trust funded research project based at the University of Manchester examining how Nigeria responded to technical problems around the production and use of antibiotics since the 1950s.

The successful candidate will undertake field research in Nigeria including research in the Nigerian National Archives and conduct in person interviews locally with interested parties based at universities, government health agencies, NGOs and local communities involved in pharmaceutical development and trials.

Candidates must have a Masters level qualification (or equivalent) in, ideally, History or Anthropology, however a Public Health subject may also be considered, along with knowledge of the Nigerian health care system.
