Job summary

We are looking to appoint an enthusiastic individual to join a well-established, successful Obstetrics & Gynae Research Team. The post is a great opportunity to gain research experience and develop a career in clinical research.

You will needto demonstrate the ability to organise, prioritise and adjust your workload inrelation to requirements of a range ofstudies. The post holder must demonstrate the ability to work both independently and in collaboration with medicalstaff and clinical teams. The postinvolves face-to-face patient contactas well as administrative tasks in coordinating the daily running of studies,which includes data collection andhandling.

The post holder will be supported by the clinical research midwives.

Main duties of the job

Supportthe deliver of NIHR clinical research

Supportthe coordination and administration of the day-to-day activities of clinicalresearch supporting the delivery teams with appointments, data entry andmaintenance of site files.

Establishgood lines of communication the multidisciplinary team and wider researchstakeholders.

Job responsibilities

The post holder will be a key member of the multi-disciplinary clinicalresearch team, supporting the daily management of research studies undersupervision of the Research Midwives/Nurses. The postholder will work acrossspecialities, with the primary speciality being Obstetrics and Gynaecology.

The post holder will also be expected to develop knowledge and skillsand to provide on-going support to the patients whilst in clinical trials. Thepost holder will be required to develop skills such as consenting of patientsto appropriately delegated research studies.

You will be required to provide routine information to patients alongwith non-routine information about studies and effectively communicate whereresearch lies within the individual patients clinical care pathway. Part of the role will include data collectionincluding data input into electronic databases and other administrativeduties. The postholder will ensure thatany research undertaken is conducted to ICH Good Clinical Practice (GCP) Standards. You will identify barriers to recruitment andwork effectively with other staff groups to overcome these barriers. This is a diverse and demanding role whichrequires an enthusiastic and flexible individual. The post requires the abilityto travel independently, therefore access to a car and full driving licence isessential.

The role is part of a large and growing research team with the potentialto develop further in the future.
