    These internships are funded by NIHR and might ideally suit 2nd and 3rd year undergraduate students and students having recently graduated in Mathematics, Statistics or a closely related field with a strong quantitative component.See Further Particulars for the list of available projects. In the cover letter, the candidates are encouraged to indicate any preference for specific project(s) and their motivation to focus on these.

    The interns will be exposed to the day-to-day activities of a statistical methodologist in biomedical research and they will learn about possible career paths. They will be allocated to a research theme and encouraged to participate in theme activities as well as group meetings with members of staff across the different themes.The interns are expected to have intermediate knowledge of the statistical programming language R. There are no prerequisites of medical statistics knowledge, but curiosity for biomedical applications is essential. While previous experience is welcome, the purpose of the internship is to introduce interns from various backgrounds to the field of medical statistics and methodological research, and to the role of a biostatistician.
