About the role

We are seeking a highly motivated Research Assistant to coordinate a creative, cross-disciplinary project that aims to reduce social isolation and improve mental health in young people with Parkinson’s disease.

You will work closely with the multidisciplinary project team to coordinate a series of workshops to explore the psychological issues facing young people with Parkinson’s, assist in the depiction of these in the notation for a graphic score, organise a celebratory event for the public performance of the composition, and evaluate the impact on participants’ mental health and social connectedness using quantitative and qualitative research methodology.

This is an exciting opportunity for a Research Assistant in psychology to develop a range of clinical and research skills on an innovative project seeking to address social drivers of psychological distress. It would suit an early career researcher seeking to develop a career in clinical or academic psychology.

This post is available immediately and is offered on a part-time basis ( hours per week, 40% FTE) funded until 31 July in the first instance.

About you

You will have an undergraduate degree (2:1 or above) in psychology, health services research, or a closely related topic. Experience of quantitative and qualitative research methodologies, IT proficiency at advanced user lever, proficiency in statistical analysis of quantitative data, and excellent oral and written communication skills are also essential for this role. Experience of work with experts-by-experience/PPI, knowledge of mental health issues in Parkinson’s, experience of events management, and knowledge and understanding of musical or graphic rotation is desirable.

This role does not meet the eligibility requirements for a Skilled Worker Visa certificate of sponsorship under UK Visas and Immigration legislation. Therefore UCL will not be able to sponsor individuals who require right to work in the UK to carry out this role.
