Our study aims to investigate a novel intervention using a wearable device to trigger sensorimotor integration and enhance neuroplasticity after stroke. We have developed a wearable device that can be easily attached to the arm and provides intervention upon muscle activation. We will conduct a clinical pilot study with a patient cohort at Charing Cross Hospital and through local charity groups. In this role, you will be at the intersection of clinical practice and research, collaborating with an interdisciplinary team of engineers, therapists, and consultants.


The key responsibility of this role will be to recruit patients, deliver an intervention to the patients and analyse the collected data.

You will also be responsible for the following tasks:

• Ensure the validity and reliability of data at all times.

• Maintain accurate and complete records of all findings.

• Assist with the writing of reports to research sponsors.

• Present findings to colleagues.

• Provide advice to other staff and students.

• Assist with the publication of findings.

• Attend relevant workshops and conferences as necessary.

• Develop contacts within the College and the wider community.

• Promote the reputation of the Group, the Department and the College.

Other Duties:

• To undertake any necessary training and/or development.

• To undertake appropriate administration tasks.

• To attend relevant meetings.


Masters degree (or equivalent) in Bioengineering or Brain Sciences

· Practical experience within a research environment

· Ability and experience with working collaboratively and effectively in a multi-disciplinary team

· Knowledge of research methods and statistical procedures

· Ability to conduct a detailed review of recent literature

· Ability to develop and apply new concepts

· Excellent verbal communication skills and the ability to deal with a wide range of people

· Excellent written communication skills and the ability to write clearly and succinctly for publication

· Ability to organise own work with minimal supervision

· Ability to prioritise own work in response to deadlines

· Advanced computer skills, including word-processing, spreadsheets and the Internet

· Willingness to work as part of a team and to be open-minded and cooperative

· Flexible attitude towards work

· Discipline and regard for confidentiality and security at all times

· Willingness to undertake any necessary training for the role

· Willingness to travel both within the United Kingdom and abroad to conduct research and attend conferences

· Willingness to work out of normal working hours (including weekends) if the requirements of the project demand
