Research Associate / Fellow

Publicerad 2024-09-16

Two Research positions, one at Research Associate level and one at Research Fellow level, are available in the Department of Bioengineering at Imperial College London within the Ultrasound Laboratory for Imaging and Sensing of Prof. Mengxing Tang (/people/.

The post is funded by the Wellcome Trust Bioimaging Technology Development Award, to investigate 3D ultrasound imaging of micro-circulation and genetically encoded acoustic reporters in vivo, as part of a collaboration between Faculty of Engineering (South Kensington Campus) and Faculty of Medicine (Hammersmith Campus) at Imperial College London, KCL, and Caltech in the USA.

One of the researchers will mainly focus on the computational aspect of the project, including the development and evaluation of image reconstruction and post-processing algorithms and codes for 2D and 3D ultrasound imaging, both in simulation and experimentally. The other researcher will mainly focus on the experimental aspects of the project, and is expected to spend a significant amount of time in Caltech (USA) as part of the collaboration. Both researchers will also be undertaking project management and/or supervising multi-disciplinary teams. You will be expected to submit publications to refereed journals. You will be working closely together, and with biological and chemical collaborators in a multi-disciplinary team.

The applicant should hold, or be about to receive a PhD, and have relevant skills and experience in ultrasound imaging. Experiences in image reconstruction / beamforming, super-resolution / ULM, ultrasound imaging simulation, in vivo imaging, or imaging acoustic reporter genes would be desirable. The work will be carried out in close collaboration with a number of internal and external collaborators from Faculty of Medicine at Imperial College, KCL and Caltech. Researchers will be expected to play an active role in the group, writing papers and giving presentations, helping to write grant proposals, mentoring students and setting an example for others.
