Publicerad 2024-09-10

The role

We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Research Associate (PDRA) to work collaboratively between the Lennox Lab (lennoxlab.com) and Faul Research group (faulresearchgroup.com). We are pursuing an innovative start-up, Mixterial (mixterial.com), focused on developing conductive composites for advancing sustainable electrochemical production. The successful candidate will play a critical role in refining and scaling the manufacture of 3D-printed electrochemical reactors, working in composite science, 3D-printing and electrosynthesis.

What will you be doing?

The RA will work closely with our multidisciplinary team, including specialists in materials science, electrosynthesis, and electrochemical engineering. The project’s focus is on refining and commercializing conductive composite filaments and 3D-printed reactor designs by developing pilot production workflows using advanced multi-material 3D printing technology. The role involves creating and implementing rigorous quality control measures to ensure consistent manufacturing outcomes. The candidate will have the chance to engage with industry partners, leveraging strong collaborative relationships to drive the project’s success. These efforts will elevate the Technology Readiness Level (TRL) of the materials and reactors, facilitating their adoption within the chemical industry. This advancement will significantly reduce environmental impact and accelerate the shift toward sustainable chemical synthesis. Additionally, the RA will gain valuable experience within a dynamic, fast-paced, and innovative research environment.

You should apply if

You should apply if you hold a PhD in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, or a related field, and have submitted your thesis prior to the appointment. You should bring a strong passion for interdisciplinary projects and working in early stage start-ups, particularly those focused on the commercialization of sustainable technologies. Expertise in materials science and additive manufacturing is essential. Experience in electrochemistry and FDM based composites are desirable. Excellent communication and organizational skills are crucial, as is the ability to collaborate effectively within a multidisciplinary team. You will also be expected to actively engage with industry partners and contribute productively to the team’s collaborative efforts.
