Publicerad 2024-10-14

The Manchester Institute of Education (MIE) approach to research is distinctive through a focus on equity and practice, making a significant contribution to the University’s goal of social responsibility. Our aim is to ensure that research is at the cutting edge of theory and practice, and that it contributes to improvements in the overall quality of education for students, their families and communities in educational settings throughout the world. Productive partnerships with policymakers and practitioners have been developed in order to interplay ideas, evidence and strategy.

The post holder will work as part of the #BeeWell research team under the supervision of Professor Neil Humphrey. #BeeWell is a groundbreaking measurement and improvement programme for secondary schools in Greater Manchester and Hampshire, Isle of Wight, Portsmouth and Southampton.

The aim of the research strand of the project is to improve our understanding of the development and drivers of wellbeing in adolescence. We are using an adapted version of a ‘population cohort study’ design in which we will collect quantitative data from tens of thousands of young people from schools across our two regions in annual waves. As a programme with young people at its centre, #BeeWell has a strong commitment to safeguarding. Further information about #BeeWell can be found at https://beewellprogramme.org/.

The Quantitative Research Associate will lead on statistical analyses of the #BeeWell dataset, prepare outputs relating to these analyses, undertake data aggregation processes for our school and neighbourhood feedback reports, and a variety of other duties (please refer to Further Particulars document for 'main responsibilities').

What you will get in return:

  • Fantastic market leading Pension scheme
  • Excellent employee health and wellbeing services including an Employee Assistance Programme
  • Exceptional starting annual leave entitlement, plus bank holidays
