Research Associate in Mathematical Modelling

We wish to appoint a Research Associate in Mathematical Modelling to join the Manchester Centre for Health Economics. The key purpose of this post is to develop and apply mathematical modelling to understand the impact of specific healthcare interventions. In particular, the appointed researcher will work on two main projects: modelling the impact of the introduction of human papillomavirus self-sampling for cervical cancer screening; and conducting a model-based economic evaluation of longer health and care contacts for people experiencing homelessness

The position will offer the postholder opportunities to develop their mathematical modelling skills, apply these skills to the high profile research projects and work with leading clinicians and researchers. The successful applicant will develop key skills in:

  • building and populating mathematical models
  • gathering, reviewing and synthesising relevant literature using appropriate systematic search methods
  • collating and analysing data from national databases
  • working collaboratively with research team members
