Research Associate in Particle Physics

Background

The Particle Physics group at the University of Manchester has vacancies for a Research Associate working on the LHCb experiment at the LHC at CERN. The Manchester LHCb group has members with strong analysis experience across a range of areas including CP violation and mixing studies in the beauty and charm sectors, Lepton Universality Violation measurements and exotic hadron spectroscopy. The group has a range of detector activities including leading roles in the current Vertex Locator, the Mighty Tracker pixels for the second LHCb upgrade and the Real-Time Analysis project.

Overall Purpose of the Job

Successful candidates will be expected to work on physics analyses and either detector or software projects and their future upgrades. The positions require a PhD or equivalent in particle physics. Applicants will have experience in particle physics data analysis and/or detector development and/or software development for reconstruction, triggering or alignment and calibration activities,. The positions will be for a period of two to three years, with potentially opportunities for extension.
