Research Associate in Value Chain Optimisation

Publicerad 2024-12-03

In collaboration with EPSRC, Imperial and the world’s leading Chemical Engineering Company, we are seeking a Research Assistant/Associate to join the Innovative Continuous Manufacturing of Industrial Chemicals (IConIC) consortium. The main aim of this Prosperity Partnership is to translate the UK’s scientific leadership in Flow Chemistry into industrial leadership and commercial value; to realise a step change in the implementation of continuous flow processing for the manufacture of high-value chemicals.

You will conduct research in optimizing and configuring chemical value chains, leveraging both mixed-integer optimization and machine learning techniques, within the Department of Computing at Imperial College London. We will seek to develop tool(s) that optimise and determine the optimal (re-)configuration of a chemical value chain. Specifically, we aim to select components and connections for real-world value chains, including input nodes, output nodes, and processing components. Additionally, we will seek to integrate market data, such as the availability and prices of intermediate products, to make informed decisions on purchasing or selling products.

  • You must hold (or be working towards) a PhD in computer science, chemical engineering, applied mathematics or a closely related discipline, or equivalent research, industrial or commercial experience*
