The successful candidate will work as part of a multidisciplinary team, developing novel AI-driven models to enhance the understanding, forecasting, and mitigation of wildfires.• Develop, implement, and optimize machine learning models to predict wildfire behavior, spread, and impact.• Analyze large datasets (., satellite imagery, weather data, historical wildfire events) to improve the accuracy and reliability of wildfire forecasting.• Collaborate with scientists from various disciplines to integrate AI models with climate and ecological data.• Evaluate existing wildfire prediction models and identify areas for improvement using advanced AI techniques such as deep learning, reinforcement learning, and neural networks.• Conduct research on unsupervised, supervised, and semi-supervised learning approaches for complex environmental datasets.• Develop and maintain data pipelines, ensuring the collection, preprocessing, and storage of high-quality data for wildfire simulation.• Publish research findings in peer-reviewed journals and present at academic conferences and industry forums.• Contribute to grant writing and funding proposals for AI and machine learning projects focused on environmental science.• Collaborate with government agencies, non-profits, and industry partners to translate research into actionable solutions for wildfire management and prevention.• Mentor junior researchers, interns, and graduate students involved in related research projects.
We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Research Associate to contribute to cutting-edge research at the intersection of machine learning, artificial intelligence (AI), and environmental science focused on wildfire modelling and prediction. • Master’s or PhD in Computer Science, Data Science, Environmental Engineering, or a related field.• Strong experience with machine learning and AI frameworks (., TensorFlow, PyTorch, Scikit-learn).• Expertise in programming languages such as Python, R, or MATLAB.• Experience working with spatial data, remote sensing technologies (., satellite imagery).• Proven track record of working with large datasets and conducting statistical analysis. • Familiarity with wildfire models, climate data, or environmental science applications of AI.• Familiarity with social media data or large language models will be a plus.• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to produce high-quality scientific publications.
