Research Associate - Palaeoenvironmental context of the Palaeolithic Archaeology in the Namib Sand Sea

We invited applications for a research associate position, working with an international team of Quaternary Scientists, Physical Geographers and Archaeologists, and to be based within the Department of Geography, School of Environment, Education and Development at the University of Manchester (UK). Funding availability unfortunately does not cover visa fees to work in the UK for international applicants. There will be periodic research visits to the Luminescence Laboratory at the University of Sheffield (UK) and fieldwork in the northern Namib Sand Sea in Namibia. The position is funded by the Leverhulme Trust Research Grant “PANS: Palaeoenvironmental context of Palaeolithic Archaeology in the Namib Sand Sea”. The research associate will be supervised by Dr Abi Stone (University of Manchester), with work in Sheffield supported by Professor Mark Bateman and a laboratory technician. The position is fixed term for 48 months with a start data of 10th February 2025. We are committed to facilitating and supporting ongoing training for this research associate to support their career development as an early career researcher.
