ArcelorMittal Maizieres ResearchArcelorMittal Maizieres Research is the worldwide largest research center of ArcelorMittal company. The campus is composed of 4 labs dedicated to specific areas: Product, Process, Bars & Wires, Pilote. The job is proposed in the Digital Technologies cluster, part of the Process Lab. The mission of the cluster is to develop digital and cyber-physics solutions for process control and optimization, as well as product control. About 40 people, including apprentices, technicians, engineers, and researchers, are working in this cluster. Advanced physical models and process controls, especially for energy-intensive processes, are very important, directly linked to the digitalization transformation (industry 4.0) and the decarbonization programs of ArcelorMittal company.

Role OverviewYour role:

As Research Engineer, you will be involved in several activities linked to the process decarbonization and digitalization (industry 4.0), contributing to two main research axes: Physical thermal models and Process control. You will have the following missions:

Develop and integrate advanced physical thermal models to monitor and optimize furnaces in the steel manufacturing process.

Develop and integrate online control systems.

Lead research activities in the framework of research projects and technical support to plants.

Contribute to the development and renewal of the activities: proposal of new research axes and new projects.

Your profile:Master's degree or PhD in Control Engineering, Automation, Physics, or any relevant discipline.Solid background in control engineering (feedback loops, PID controller, Model Predictive Control, optimal controls, ...).Computer programming skills with Matlab/Simulink, Fortran, or Python.Solid knowledge of real-time and embedded systems.Knowledge of heat transfer, thermal phenomena, and physics (combustion, pyrolysis, oxidation, physical modeling, ...).Measurement techniques (instrumentation, signal processing).Knowledge of Fluent or Comsol will be a plus.Advanced levels of English and French.Ability to run laboratory experiments as well as trials in industrial plants.Ability to work in a team.
