Verian is one of the top tier social research agencies in the UK. We have around 150 specialist researchers working together to provide knowledge, evidence and insight that helps Government, the private sector and the Third Sector plan and care for society.
We are looking for a Research Manager with qualitative expertise to join our Behavioural Practice, in either a permanent or fixed-term role. In this role, you will manage projects, work with clients to building lasting relationships, and contribute to delivering work across our growing behavioural insights research and consultancy offer.
Within the Behavioural and Communications team, we advise clients on the opportunities for behaviour change at all stages in the policy cycle, and work on some of society's most pressing issues. We provide insight into what influences behaviour; we design communications, interventions and strategies for inspiring change; and we trial and evaluate campaigns and interventions. The team brings together varied expertise, including behavioural economics and cognitive and social psychology; qualitative and quantitative research methods; creative and design; data analytics; communications consultancy and capability building.

Your responsibilities
- Manage qualitative projects (or qualitative elements of mixed-methods projects) of varying scales and speeds, often acting as a key contact for clients
- Ensure efficient, profitable, high-quality project delivery – taking responsibility for project management, monitoring progress, pro-actively addressing challenges and maintaining quality
- Line manage one or more individuals and support their work and development
- Contribute to reporting and presentations for varied audiences
- Develop, over time, an area of specialist expertise (e.g. a policy area within our portfolio, client consultancy, methodological innovation etc.)
- Participate in wider team activities across Verian in the UK and globally
Your Profile
- Experience and skills in qualitative research methods, ideally in the context of behaviour change and/or behavioural science
- Proven project management and leadership experience – strong client handling skills and an ability to coordinate a research team and deliver work to time and budget
- Keen curiosity about Government behaviour change work – projects to understand behaviour and design interventions and strategies for change
- Strong organisational skills – confident in managing time and working both independently and within a multi-disciplinary team
- Enjoy being with and advising clients on project issues
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills – preparing engaging, authoritative and insightful presentations and reports
