Research technician position in Stem Cell Biology
Our research focuses on studying neurodevelopmental disorders using human iPSCs as a model system. This involves using CRISPR-Cas9 for gene editing and generating various reporter cell lines. Our methodologies include FACS, colony picking, expansion, and characterization of cell lines, as well as neuronal differentiation, proteomics, and genomic analysis.
Joining our team offers opportunities for professional growth and learning. The role involves close collaboration with a PhD and a Master's student, conducting cell culture experiments and laboratory assays, and analyzing data. The candidate will also assist and train students, demonstrating strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
Weekend duty of 1-2 times per month for a few hours to maintain cell cultures is required.
We offer a one-year employment with the possibility of an extension.
Requirements
We are looking for a highly motivated research technician with exceptional laboratory skills and experience to join our team. The candidate should have a strong interest in understanding the molecular regulation of human X-chromosome inactivation and the molecular basis of X-linked neurodevelopmental disorders.
- The ideal candidate should hold a Bachelor's degree in Biomedical Science, Molecular/Cellular Biology, Nanobiology, or a related field.
- Have experience in molecular and cellular techniques (DNA cloning, PCR, qPCR, Western blotting, immunofluorescence, RNA FISH and microscopy).
- Prior experience in cell culture, especially with iPSCs, and knowledge of CRISPR-based methods, microscopy and FACS will be advantageous. We find important personal characteristics such as strong motivation for research, a problem-solving mindset, the ability to work independently and in a team, and good communication skills in English (the working language).
Conditions of employment
- You will receive a temporary position for 1 year.

Employer
Erasmus MC
The Erasmus MC stands for a healthy population and excellence in healthcare. By conducting groundbreaking work, we aim to push boundaries through leading the way in research, education and healthcare. We have a high level of expertise, and work hard to improve and renew the healthcare of today and the public health of tomorrow. We have access to the latest equipment and techniques in a state-of-the-art environment.
The candidate will be appointed at the department of Developmental Biology in the research team of dr. C. Gontan Pardo. The group uses a multidisciplinary approach to advance the understanding of human X chromosome inactivation and X-linked neurodevelopmental disorders.
The department of Developmental Biology performs basic research and is involved in several teaching and training programs. We aim to unravel the epigenetic mechanisms regulating cell fate decisions in the cycle of life, and to translate this knowledge to understand deregulations that may occur in X-linked diseases, cancer, infertility, and aging.
The candidate will be offered excellent training and supervision.
More information about the research activities of the lab can be found here.
