Researcher, Scotland Tonight (6 month Fixed Term Contract)

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Researcher to join STV News in the Scotland Tonight team on a six-month fixed term contract based in Glasgow.


From interviews with key voices to pictures of incredible moments, this role is focused on developing and sourcing content that really connects with audiences. Based at our Pacific Quay office in Glasgow the Researcher will support the Producer by coming up with creative ideas, sourcing contributors, arranging interviews and creating schedules for Scotland Tonight.


This is a flexible position that may be aligned to a single output but will more commonly supply material tailored for use on broadcast, digital and social platforms for Scotland Tonight.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Working closely with the Content Producer on production of long form packages
  • Finding interesting filming locations
  • Sourcing contributors and relevant stories
  • Introducing new faces, to reflect Scotland’s diverse communities
  • Creating schedules for the production team
  • Researching and investigating content
  • Accessing material and archive for packages
  • Coming up with new and innovative approaches to storytelling
  • Supporting the social media presence of the production


SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:


  • Sound knowledge of Scottish politics and current affairs.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal and team working skills to liaIse effectively with colleagues and external contributors.
  • Strong attention to detail, organisational skills and planning.
  • A resilient, positive, can-do attitude and highly motivated to deliver against tight deadlines.
  • Use initiative and judgement to escalate where necessary
  • A passion and enthusiasm for television and the media.
  • Proficient in MS office packages
  • Editing experience (Avid) advantageous but not essential
