SEN Lecturer with Art and DT Specialism

Long - Term teachers are seeking an enthusiastic art and design specialist, who have knowledge of teaching students with special educational needs.
This fantastic specialist college offers a holistic education for students aged 16-25 years who have a diagnosis of Autistic Spectrum Disorder and associated mental health conditions. The college uses specialist education approaches, therapeutic support and environments and staffing expertise to prepare students to meet the demands of adult life in a positive way.
About the role:
This is a part time position, working 9 hours a week spread across 3 days, the hours are as follows:
Tuesday - 9:30am - 10:15am
Wednesday - 11:25am - 3pm
Thursday 11.25am - 4pm
Key duties:
- Plan and deliver Art and Design lessons
- Working collaboratively with Teaching Assistants, SALTs, psychologists and ICT
specialists to extend students; listening, speaking, reading and writing skills. - Maintain a professional relationship with students, being able to mentor them and effectively coax them to enjoy their studies.
About you:
- Must have teaching qualification
- At least 2 years experience working with SEN students
- Knowledge of subject specialism
- Planning and marking experience
- Have a strong understanding of safeguarding policies
- Have an understanding of actions or situations that might be considered as discrimination and an
understanding of how these can be prevented - Punctual, well organised
- Caring, dedicated and patient
