Description

The Department of Industrial Management, Industrial Design, and Mechanical Engineering is seeking a Senior Lecturer in Industrial engineering and management with a focus on quality engineering, quality management, and/or industrial organisation. The department conducts education and research in industrial management, industrial design, and mechanical engineering. A common starting point for our activities is to develop knowledge about industrial products, services, and processes with regard to social, economic, and ecological sustainability. The department has a strong connection to the surrounding community, and students, teaching staff, and researchers work collaborate closely with industry and government agencies. The position is a permanent full-time appointment or as per agreement. A probationary period may be applied.

Job Duties

As a Senior Lecturer in Industrial Management, you dedicate your working hours to both teaching and research, as well as collaboration. Teaching includes planning, conducting, evaluating, and developing courses at both first-cycle and second-cycle levels. Courses are conducted both on campus and online, and are offered in both Swedish and English.

Research involves initiating, conducting, and reporting on research, supervising doctoral students, and seeking and obtaining research funding. An important part of the position is to contribute to increasing external funding for research and also enhancing collaboration with the surrounding community.

Your workplace is the University of Gävle, and the majority of your working time will be on campus.

Qualifications

The requirements for the position include a doctoral degree in Industrial engineering and management or another subject deemed equivalent by the employer, with a specialisation in quality engineering, quality management, and/or industrial organisation. To be eligible for the position of Senior Lecturer, you must also have demonstrated pedagogical skills.

In addition, you should have:

  • Experience in teaching activities including planning, implementation (teaching and examination), evaluation, and development of study programmes and courses.
  • Completed higher education pedagogical training equivalent to at least 10 weeks of full-time studies or acquired equivalent knowledge in another way.
  • Ability to express yourself verbally and in writing in English.

Ability to collaborate and establish good relationships internally and externally. The teaching profession involves considerable freedom in organising one's work. Hence the applicant needs to demonstrate initiative and independence.

It is advantageous if you have:

  • Ability to initiate, conduct, and report research of high scientific quality.
  • Ability to seek and obtain external funding for research and to lead your own research projects.
  • Ability to collaborate within relevant national or international research networks and with the surrounding community.
  • Experience in supervising doctoral students.
  • Experience in distance learning.
  • Experience in teaching project management.
  • Ability to express yourself verbally and in writing in Swedish.

In the selection process, consideration will also be given to how the applicant can strengthen and complement the department’s research and teaching in the subject area.

The evaluation of pedagogical skills will be given equal consideration as the evaluation of scientific skills.
