Senior Lecturer / Reader in Cellular Neuropathology

The are looking to recruit a Senior Lecturer/Reader in Cellular Neuropathology with extensive expertise in Multiple Sclerosis (MS) to lead our research programmes on the cellular and molecular mechanisms of MS and to play a major role in the strategic management of the UK MS Society Tissue bank at Imperial. You will join an internationally recognised group of academics carrying out exciting research to identify novel therapeutic approaches to treating progressive MS.


You will set up a competitive, well-funded, programme of research that applies the latest functional genomics technologies to increase understanding of the mechanisms driving the accumulation of disability in MS and the identification of new drug targets. Your expertise in the use of post-mortem human MS tissues will facilitate the continued development of the use of post-mortem MS tissues and will help build important international collaborations. You will make important contributions to undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and training in neuropathology and neuroscience.


  • An experienced senior academic researcher with an international reputation in MS research and an extensive track record in the use of human tissues.
  • Experience in the development of international collaborative research programmes in the neuroimmunology and neuropathology of MS.
  • A significant track record in attracting substantial and sustainable research funding.
