Senior Lecturer (Teaching and Research) - UOD1495

We are looking for a Senior Lecturer to undertake high quality research aligned with the School's research strategy and at least one of our five research groups: Healthy Active Ageing Research (HAAR) group; Improvement and Implementation Research (IIMPRES) group; Living Well with Long-Term Conditions (LWLTC) research group; Mother, infant and child health research group; Substance Use Research Group (SURG). Our research groups work collaboratively within and across complementary topic or methodological areas.


The post will have both teaching (notionally 60% time) and research (notionally 40% time) responsibilities. We welcome applications from people who meet the essential criteria and are particularly interested in applicants with applied health sciences research expertise and experience.


Key components of the role include:



  • Collaborative research including leading grant applications, undertaking research and producing publications

  • Supervising postgraduate students

  • Learning, teaching and assessment

  • Providing student support

  • Other high quality research and engagement activities


We are looking for someone with a commitment to high quality impactful research and teaching excellence. You will have a real passion for research and be motivated to provide the very best experience for our students. We are open to any disciplinary background/expertise but are particularly interested in applicants who can demonstrate strong methodological expertise and relevant research experience.


You may be a registered health professional or researcher currently working in a clinical area, education or research. You must be educated to PhD level and demonstrate interest and success in education and research. Candidates should have an interest in interdisciplinary approaches and have an established track record of obtaining research funding.


The School has campuses in Dundee and Kirkcaldy. Successful candidates can negotiate which of these would be their base, to ease travel and family commitments. However, candidates must be prepared to travel between campuses for teaching and other activities. We also support hybrid working.
