Role Overview
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Senior Lecturer to join our team. Reporting to the Head of Programme and the Senior Leadership Team, the successful candidate will play a key role in delivering high-quality education in Business and Marketing. You will contribute to the development and management of our academic programmes, ensuring students receive excellent learning experiences.

Key Responsibilities:

Academic:

  • Teaching and Learning: Deliver engaging, high-quality instruction across various Business and Marketing programmes in higher education.
  • Module Leadership: Lead assigned subjects, ensuring effective delivery and content alignment with academic standards.
  • Course Development: Collaborate with staff and students to continuously improve courses and enhance student learning outcomes.
  • Scheme of Work: Contribute to the creation and maintenance of module-specific schemes of work.
  • Curriculum Development: Design and develop materials for the modules you teach.
  • Subject-Specific Delivery: Facilitate subject sessions in line with module syllabuses and learning outcomes.
  • Assessment: Ensure timely deployment of assessments, as directed by the assessment team.
  • Student Needs Assessment: Identify and address the individual learning needs of students.
  • Feedback: Provide formative and summative feedback to students in accordance with programme requirements.
  • Quality Assurance: Ensure all teaching and assessment practices align with the standards of relevant awarding bodies and partner universities.

Research/Scholarship:

  • Stay current with developments in relevant subject areas.
  • Ensure that your research or scholarship informs your teaching.
  • Engage in continuous professional development related to research and share expertise with colleagues and students.
  • Adhere to the highest ethical standards in your research or scholarship.
  • Produce research or scholarly outputs.

Administration:

  • Faculty Management: Oversee and support faculty members as required.
  • Reporting: Produce comprehensive module or unit reports as needed.
  • Communication: Engage effectively with a diverse student body, ensuring clear communication.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Marketing Strategy: Advise senior management on marketing strategies, branding, and implementation efforts.
  • Business Incubation Leadership: Lead the development and management of the business incubation programme, mentoring students and staff, overseeing projects, and ensuring successful execution.
  • Student Support: Act as a tutor, providing personalised academic support to help students achieve their goals.
  • Carry out any other relevant duties commensurate with the grade of the post as assigned by your line manager.

Person Specification

Knowledge, Skills, and Experience:

Essential:

  • Proven ability to teach and experience in Business and Marketing education at the Higher Education level.
  • Strong leadership and management skills.
  • Knowledge of, and up-to-date awareness of, national HE quality frameworks such as the Office for Students Regulatory Framework and the Framework for Higher Education Qualifications.
  • Excellent communication abilities, especially with students from diverse backgrounds.
  • Expertise in curriculum development, assessment design, and feedback delivery.
  • Availability for in-person teaching on campus.
  • Strong planning skills with the ability to manage tasks from start to finish.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to take initiative and creatively resolve issues.

Desirable:

  • Strong teamwork skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to build relationships across diverse environments.
  • A commitment to equity and equality in a diverse and multicultural Higher Education setting.
  • Flexibility to adapt working styles in different situations.

Qualifications and Skills:

Essential:

  • A Master's degree in a subject-related discipline.

Desirable:

  • Fellowship of Advance HE (formerly the Higher Education Academy).
  • Postgraduate Certificate in Education or in Teaching and Learning.
