Senior ML Researcher - upto-£200,000 plus upto 30% bonus – London, United Kingdom (hybrid)
A successful and growing advanced sports analytics and trading start-up is looking for a Senior ML Researcher to join its expanding strategy and trading team.
Company
The core platform infrastructure handles thousands of trading signals per second, all of which must be processed and potentially acted upon with minimal latency. The problems and constraints faced are similar to high frequency trading shops, however in the sports betting world.
Role Overview
As a Machine Learning Researcher, you will:
- Work closely with the CEO, CTO, and Team Lead to design, test, and implement new machine learning models in Python
- Continuously improve existing state-of-the-art solutions
- Engage in all aspects of the R&D process—from high-level design through to production implementation
This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a dynamic startup environment and enjoys contributing to the full lifecycle of machine learning model development.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop new machine learning models in Python
- Collaborate with leadership to test and implement improvements
- Provide innovative solutions to tackle problems and suggest methodological improvements
- Conduct research on cutting-edge models, leveraging academic papers and new ideas
The ideal candidate will:
- Be highly creative, generating new approaches to problem-solving
- Have strong autonomy in researching the best methods for tackling complex challenges
- Demonstrate a strong mathematical understanding of the fundamentals of machine learning and statistics
Key Skills
- Strong mathematical intuition and creativity
- Experience across a broad range of Machine Learning and Statistics
- Ability to select the right approach for novel problems and understand trade-offs
- Hands-on experience in taking ideas from concept to production environments
- Proficiency in Python and experience with ML software frameworks
- Passion for learning new skills and techniques, comfortable with academic research
Desired Skills
- Relevant qualifications in Computer Science, Maths, Statistics, or Machine Learning
- Software development experience
- Expertise in Python/Numpy/Cython execution speed optimization techniques
- Familiarity with Unix scripting and version control tools like Git
