Smith School, School of Geography and the Environment, South Parks Road, Oxford, OX1 3QY & INET Oxford, Manor Road, Oxford OX1 3UQ An opportunity for a Senior Researcher in Complexity Economics of Sustainability in the Smith School & INET Oxford. The INET Oxford Economics of Sustainability Programme is attempting to understand the economy and environment as a deeply interlinked complex system and is working to gain insights into how the human economic part of this integrated system might be transformed to become more sustainable. The programme is looking at new ways to take into account natural capital, measure wealth creation, stimulate green technology innovation, assess climate and economic risk, and to understand socioeconomic tipping points and dynamic effects in the transition to a post-carbon society. Jointly, the two programmes have made leading contributions to understanding the green energy transition, the role of various policy and other interventions (including non-price interventions) in the economy to achieve sustainability, The postholder will jointly have a departmental appointment in the Smith School and a research affiliation with the INET Oxford centre. The post-holder will play a key role in helping to grow and maintain the impact and reputation of both INET Oxford and SSEE. The successful candidate will have deep expertise and a track record of research leadership in economics, complex systems, and sustainability. The postholder will be responsible for developing and managing high impact research projects, securing grant funding, supervising research teams of postdocs and DPhil students, and supporting the Directors in their activities. Both INET Oxford and SSEE are research communities with a strong team ethos and the postholder will be a leader in that team environment. The post is fixed-term for 5 years, with the possibility of extension subject to funding. We offer very generous benefits, some of which are:
