Do you have a nose for a story, top-notch research and writing skills, and the desire to make a difference in consumers' lives?

We are looking for a Senior Researcher/Writer to join our investigative research team specialising in the area of health.

Key responsibilities include:

As a Senior Researcher/Writer you will investigate the health issues that really matter to consumers from the evidence behind and value of everyday items such as toothpastes with claims or painkillers, to investigating the truth behind the availability of GP appointments or the best and worst optician stores.

You'll be expected to deliver investigative research and content with an increasing focus on website as well as magazine content, and support for our hard-hitting campaigns. You'll have a real curiosity and enthusiasm for health issues and will use it to bring content ideas that really suit our readers and also attract new audiences

We'll want you to use a range of investigative methods to research, and uncover key issues facing consumers as they make health choices. You'll use your ability for turning your findings into clear and engaging copy across both print and online. While your main focus will be on health content, you may sometimes be asked to take on work in other areas to support the goals of the wider Content Research & Analysis team. The focus of our health content may also change over time as our content needs evolve.

The quality of your investigative research and analysis will play a vital role in upholding our well-deserved reputation for fairness, thoroughness and reliability. This is primarily a desk-based role, but you will be required to use your networking skills to build external relationships with key contacts, and your varied approaches to investigative research may take you out-and-about to experience issues through the eyes of the consumer.

Senior Researcher/Writers are expected to have more experience and be able to more immediately hit the ground running with a higher project load and more complex research.

Knowledge, skills and experience

  • Excellent print and online writing skills, including writing to brief, an understanding of SEO and experience of using CMS software
  • Solid analytical and research skills, from carrying out a range of in-depth research to the ability to analyse research results
  • Good numeracy and to be comfortable handling data in spreadsheets
  • Strong project and time management skills; adept at juggling multiple projects to tight deadlines and always meeting deadlines
  • Creativity and the ability to pitch new ideas that work well for our audiences, demonstrating a good understanding of consumer issues (ideally in health).

We welcome and encourage applications from candidates who are under-represented in the creative industries.

Please make sure that you state in your application that you found this role via Creative Access.
