This Epidemiology role is based in our modern co-working facilities in Moorgate, London. We are looking for an enthusiastic and scientifically curious student to join our company’s Epidemiology Department as a Graduate Research Assistant for 12 months. During your time with us, you will gain experience into the wide range of epidemiological research and activities conducted in a global pharmaceutical company, including state-of-the-art methods using artificial intelligence/machine learning (AI/ML). You will work closely with local and international colleagues to learn to plan, design and implement epidemiological studies and research activities (e.g., on disease epidemiology, on medicine and vaccine population-level safety or effectiveness), to analyse and interpret data, and to make data-driven decisions. Teamwork and communication are integral to what we do, so you will be expected to actively participate in meetings on your projects and present your findings.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide epidemiology support for assigned projects (e.g., assisting with literature reviews, development of study protocols, implementing studies, performing analyses of data, summarizing results, writing short reports).
  • Participate in AI/ML projects (e.g., scientific literature review activities, identification of fit-for-purpose real-world data [RWD] sources, design and validation of models, co-authoring scientific publications such as manuscripts and conference presentations).
  • Participate in the evaluation of emerging RWD sources to assess data quality for future projects.

Requirements:

  • You must currently be at university and will be looking to complete a 12-month student internship as part of your undergraduate degree.
  • Studying for an epidemiology, biomedical science, or computer science degree (or equivalent qualification).
  • Evidence of interest in healthcare sciences.
  • Prior experience with data analysis and programming (e.g., SAS; R; Python; etc.) preferred.
