About The Role

Ashford College, part of the East Kent Colleges Group are seeking to appoint a Engineering Supply Lecturer to their approved staffing list. What's more, is that as a group of 6 colleges (Ashford, Broadstairs, Canterbury, Dover, Folkestone, Sheppey) in East Kent as well as apprentice and adult training units, you can be considered for work in our other environments. This could be a great step towards a career with us as a group. We have a history of our Supply Lecturers being successful in further roles within our group. As a Supply Lecturer you will;
  • teach, train and assess students in your subject specialism(s)
  • ensure a high-quality learning experience
  • provide support to learners to enable them to achieve their maximum potential
  • Please note that our Supply Lecturers are paid £18 per hour worked and if planning and admin is required, a further half an hour may be claimed per hour of teaching. £135 per day is therefore for rate for 5 hours teaching with 2.5 hours of planning and admin. Any addition to the approved staffing list is not a guarantee of employment or hours of work. Once you have been interviewed and all pre-employment checks are complete, you will then be placed within the supply pool of staff available for temporary work.     About You

    Specifically, our Engineering Department in Ashford, is looking for someone with mechanical and machining experience and understanding to deliver to HNC and T Level students. 
    The ideal candidate will be highly organised, creative and be able to plan and teach engaging and innovative lessons with demonstrated interpersonal skills. Assessing and tracking student progress, to further plan intervention this will be a vital part of the role and ensuring all students develop the skills they need to succeed.

    The successful candidate will be able to teach a range of designated study programs and/or courses from Level 1 up to Level 3 and will be able to motivate learners to achieve and succeed on their programmes of study.
