We seekaTextile DesignerResearcherto join our growing creative teaminBurnley Lancashire. This role is crucial in continuing ourcommitment to designing cuttingedge textile solutions withsustainable and aesthetic integrity. The ideal candidate willcombine their design skills with research acumen to develop designsthat meet and anticipate market trends in hospitality healthcareandworkspace settings.
KeyResponsibilities
- Research markettrends materials (printed &woven) and techniques to helpform the design strategies.
- Trend analysisdesign and colourled creating mood and colourboards.
- Review our existing product portfolioidentifying strengths and developmentareas.
- Attend trade shows and supplier trips(occasional travel within the UK and Overseas approximately 4 or 5times per year max).
- Prepare scopingpresentations on product price technical information innovationopportunities and development advice.
- Createoriginal textile designs that align with client needs and marketdemands.
- Colouring colour matching andsamplingseparations repeats legends tone/textiles overlaps andcolourways.
- Collaborate closely withcrossfunctional teams to ensure cohesive and impactful designoutcomes.
- Select supplier samples andprototypes.
- Liaise with production regardingprint files customs and masters.
- Support thetechnical team during the development cycle/ critical pathway tolaunch.
- Prepare pattern card design layouts fornew products.
- Assisted in organising madeupitems and props for photography.
- Collaboratewith the marketing team to support assetproofreading.
- Deliver collection launchpresentations to the business.
- Maintainuptodate knowledge of advancements in sustainable materials andtextile technologies.
EssentialSkills and Qualifications
- Provenexperience and degree in surface patterntextiledesign.
- A strong portfolio showcasing yourdesign and research capabilities.
- Expertise indesign software such as Adobe Creative Suite and CADapplications.
- Colouration software colour atlasand design files colour management.
- Fabricanalysis identifying fibre types woven constructions and yarncounts.
- Technical textile qualities and testingmethods FR abrasion BS EU and USA validationmethods.
- Product lifecycle and gapanalysis.
- Strong analytical skills tointerpret market research and customer feedbackeffectively.
- Proofreadingtechniques.
- Excellent verbal and writtencommunication skills to present ideas clearly andpersuasively.
- Ability to balance creativitywith a commercial mindset understanding customer and marketneeds.
- A proactive and innovative approach tosolving design challenges.
