Founded in 1958, our research and education community is 16 000 students and 3000 employees strong, and one of the biggest and the most multidisciplinary universities in Finland. The six faculties, the many departments and the specialized research units of the University of Oulu create the foundation for multiscientific research, innovation and training of experts for demanding professional tasks.

EDUCATION

The University of Oulu trains experts in demanding national and international tasks. Education is based on latest research knowledge and its applications. The wide multidisciplinary base and training programmes that cross subject boundaries offer students many options for building their own strengths for the job market of the future.
You can study in 46 training programmes in 70 different study fields. For those already employed there are many opportunities for upgrading one’s skills through Open University training, continuing education and complementary study modules of the faculties.

RESEARCH

The University of Oulu conducts scientific basic research in over 70 branches of science. Open-mindedly combining technical sciences, natural sciences and human sciences creates a unique foundation for new multidisciplinary research knowledge, innovation and education.
