CEA DSV – IBEB
Located on the CEA centers of the Rhone valley within the PACA and Languedoc-Roussillon regions, IBEB has about 160 permanent employees. It is organized around two units, the Department of Plant Biology and Environmental Microbiology (SBVME) in Cadarache, and the Department of Biochemistry and Nuclear Toxicology (SBTN) in Marcoule..
"The institute is interested in the responses of the living to environmental constraints, and the mechanisms of energy bioconversion and production of energy-rich molecules (bio-energy). It develops biotechnologies aimed at preserving the quality of the environment and of health (bio-sensing and bio-remediation), in addition to producing biofuels."
- Subjects and biological models: bacteria, microalgae, plants and human cell lines.
- Methodological approaches: The multidisciplinary approaches call upon physiology, genomics, transcriptomics, proteomics, biochemistry, structural biology, molecular modeling and cellular imaging.
- Programs in which the institute participates: CEA transversal programs (toxicology, health technologies, NRBC); CNRS programs (biodiversity, ecological engineering, energy, health and environment, ecotoxicology).
